Raleigh, NC
– Peace College went blow for blow with Greensboro
College in the first half, but the Pride was just too
strong for the Pacers in the second half. Peace tied
the game at 29-29 with under a minute to play in the
first half when Brittany Lynn hit a jumper from just
outside the paint. The score would stick as the two
teams headed into intermission, but it was the Pride
who would use the break to their advantage.
Greensboro came out strong in the second half as the
Pride went on a 14-2 scoring run to begin the final
twenty minutes. That would prove to be the difference
as the visitors took their twelve point lead and ended
up winning by the same margin. The Pride was led by
reigning USA South Conference player of the year Staci
Humphrey who led all scorers with twenty points, while
also dishing out seven assists. On the other side of
the court the Pacers got plenty of offense from Christy
Freeman and Brittany Lynn. Both players scored twelve
points respectively with Lynn adding seven rebounds
in the losing effort. Amanda Cross also added nine points
for Peace.
The Pacers, who fell to 6-9 overall on the season, still
remain winless in USA South Conference play on the season
with an 0-5 record. The Pride improved to 10-5 (4-1
USA South). Peace will take two days off before becoming
weekend road warriors. The Pacers travel to Ferrum,
VA to visit Ferrum College on Saturday, before making
the short trek south to face Averett University on Sunday.
Both USA South Conference games will tip off at 2:00
PM.
