Ferrum, VA
– Peace College took the show on the road, but
left something either in Raleigh or on the van when
they took on Ferrum College on Saturday afternoon. The
Panthers jumped out to a 39-21 halftime lead over the
Pacers and cruised onto an 83-51 victory over the visitors
in USA South action.
For Ferrum, senior guard Quanita Bennett and freshman
forward Tonya Wright had eight points each. In a well-balanced
offensive showing, all 13 players scored for Ferrum.
The Panthers also dominated the boards, 47-29.
Peace (6-10, 0-6 USA South) was led by guard Christy
Freeman's nine points. The Pacers spread the ball around
as guards Amanda Cross, Brittany Lynn and LeAnne Horne
each contributed seven points in the losing effort.
The deciding factor in the game very easily could be
contributed to the one sided rebound performance. The
Pacers did not have any player with more than five total
rebounds, with that being guard Anna Prorock.
The Pacers will make the 45-minute ride down to Danville,
VA to face Averett University on Sunday at 2:00 PM.
Although heading into the weekend neither team had earned
a USA South Conference victory, Averett was able to
blow by NC Wesleyan on Saturday to pick up their first
win in conference play. Peace still remains winless,
but will look to get by the Lady Cougars move up in
the conference standings. Averett enters the game with
a 2-12 overall record (1-5 USA South).
