FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The USA South
Athletic Conference has announced its 2006 All-Conference
Team and Peace sophomore Ashley Simms was named Honorable
Mention, placing her in the top sixteen runners in the
entire conference.
Simms, a second team pick in her first season at Peace,
suffered numerous injuries and was only able to compete
in three of the Pacers four meets this season, but still
managed to gain recognition from the USA South Conference
Sports Information Directors.
Simms, a Sophomore from Raleigh,
scored her second consecutive honor from the USA South.
As a First Year runner, Simms was named second team
All USA South Conference after a very successful career
at Millbrook High School. Simms also picked up the honor
of Most Valuable Runner in her first season hitting
the trails for the Pacers in 2005.
Simms placed 25th in the Campbell
University 4000-meter run with a time of 18:41, 23rd
in the Salem Cross Country Invitational with a time
of 24:37, and in the top half of the Greensboro Cross
Country Invitational 5K run with a time of 24:10.
