Greensboro, NC – The Peace College Softball team
traveled to Greensboro today to take on the eleventh
ranked (nationally) Pride of Greensboro College in USA
South Conference Action. Peace defeated the Pride 1-0
in the first game and lost the second game 0-7. With
the split, Peace advances to 16-9 overall, 2-4 in the
USA South. The Pride 23-3, 5-1, picked up its first
conference loss of the season.
In game on freshman pitcher, Ashley Stansbury, pitched
a shut-out for the Pacers and on the offensive end,
drove junior second baseman Joanie Blevins in for the
only run of the game in the top of the sixth. Greensboro
was not able to answer and Peace’s Stansbury took
the win advancing to 6-5 from the mound n the season.
Greensboro’s Brown was credited with the loss.
In game two the bats seemed to come alive for both teams
as Greensboro had eight hits and Peace had ten. Holly
Braswell and Kristen Crandall both went 2-3 in game
two for the Pacers and Joanie Blevins went 2-4. Braswell
took one over the center field fence in the top of the
second inning to add yet another homer to her count
for the season, as it now stands at eleven homers and
with three weeks to go, Braswell has already captured
the single season and career records at Peace. Although
Pacers picked it up offensively from game one, it was
not enough as the Pride went on to win 4-7. Lauren Pleasant
took the loss from the mound dropping to 5-2 on the
season. Patterson (6-1) picked up the win for the Pride.
Peace will be on the road Saturday at Methodist University
for a conference Double header starting at 1:00 pm.
