Fayetteville, NC - The Peace College softball club split
with top ranked USA South Conference foe, Methodist
University today dropping game one 0-7 to the Monarchs
and regaining defensive momentum in game two to pull
away with the win 1-0. With the split, Peace advanced
to 17-10 overall, 3-5 in the USA South. The Monarchs

In game one, it seemed as if the Pacers had a bit of
jet lag as the Monarchs railed of seven runs on eleven
hits and only one error by the Pacers. The Monarchs
hit five doubles and a triple, and after scoring seven
runs, they still left a whopping nine players on base.
Only two Peace players picked up hits in game one as
Summer Evans singled up the middle and Kenni Seagroves
singled to left field. From the mound, Ashley Stansbury
(6-6) took the loss for Peace and Beck picked up the
win for the Monarchs.
In game two, Peace stepped it up on the defensive side
holding the Monarchs to zero runs on three hits and
one error by the Pacers. Pleasant picked up the win
(6-2) striking out six batters and only walking two.
On the offensive, the Pacers managed to pick up one
run on a single to right field by Kenni Seagroves which
drove in Ashley Stansbury for the lone run of the game.
Methodist tried to answer in the bottom of the inning
and with runners on second and third and only one out,
the senior leadership of Lauren Pleasant on the mound,
helped Peace to push ahead as the last two Monarch batters
popped to the pitcher and the catcher to end game two.
Peace will be in action again on Tuesday hosting Keuka
College for a 6:00 single game at Wachovia Athletic
Park.
