Fayetteville, NC - The Peace College softball club split with top ranked USA South Conference foe, Methodist University today dropping game one 0-7 to the Monarchs and regaining defensive momentum in game two to pull away with the win 1-0. With the split, Peace advanced to 17-10 overall, 3-5 in the USA South. The Monarchs are

In game one, it seemed as if the Pacers had a bit of jet lag as the Monarchs railed of seven runs on eleven hits and only one error by the Pacers. The Monarchs hit five doubles and a triple, and after scoring seven runs, they still left a whopping nine players on base. Only two Peace players picked up hits in game one as Summer Evans singled up the middle and Kenni Seagroves singled to left field. From the mound, Ashley Stansbury (6-6) took the loss for Peace and Beck picked up the win for the Monarchs.

In game two, Peace stepped it up on the defensive side holding the Monarchs to zero runs on three hits and one error by the Pacers. Pleasant picked up the win (6-2) striking out six batters and only walking two. On the offensive, the Pacers managed to pick up one run on a single to right field by Kenni Seagroves which drove in Ashley Stansbury for the lone run of the game. Methodist tried to answer in the bottom of the inning and with runners on second and third and only one out, the senior leadership of Lauren Pleasant on the mound, helped Peace to push ahead as the last two Monarch batters popped to the pitcher and the catcher to end game two.

Peace will be in action again on Tuesday hosting Keuka College for a 6:00 single game at Wachovia Athletic Park.
