Raleigh, NC – After dropping to 0-2 in the USA
South Conference in their second game of the season,
the Peace softball team picked up its first USA South
win splitting a double header with visiting Ferrum College
today. Peace lost the first game 3-6 and won the second
10-2.
In game one Peace jumped out ahead of Ferrum in the
bottom of the first inning on a two-run homer by junior
first baseman Holly Braswell, her tenth of the season.
Braswell’s homer brought lead-off hitter, freshman
short stop, Summer Evans over the plate, Evans was walked
earlier in the inning. In the top of the second, Ferrum
scored six runs on six Peace errors and would not score
again for the rest of the game. Peace tried to overcome

sacrifice sending Evans on to third. Evans scored on
a passed ball to put the Pacers within three with only
one out. Senior outfielder Lauren Pleasant singled and
advanced to second on a wild pitch. Pleasant would stay
on second as Braswell struck out looking for the second
out and Stansbury chipped one to the Ferrum third baseman
for the third out. Ferrum ended the game on top 6-3
on twelve hits and seven Peace errors. Ashley Stansbury
took the loss from the mound dropping to 5-3 while Laura
Terry would pick up the win for Ferrum.
In game two, Peace jumped out in front again 2-0 in
the bottom of the first. Blevins reached on a walk and
Braswell brought her in on an RBI-double to center field.

by Rizzo to bring the Panthers within one run. Peace
answered in the bottom of the third as Blevins singled,
advanced to second on a wild pitch and then crossed
home on an error by the third baseman to put Peace up
3-1 going into the fourth. Ferrum scored in the top
of the forth on and RBI-single by Blalock bringing in
Riffle with the score now at 3-2. Peace put four more
up on the board with three RBI-singles by Blevins, Braswell
and Stansbury and a fielder’s choice RBI by Kristyn
Trogden. Ferrum would not score again and Peace put
up three more runs in the bottom of the fifth as Kristen
Crandall scored on an error by the second baseman, Stansbury
singled for an RBI and Pleasant doubled for an RBI.
Peace was up 10-2 and the game was called after the
fifth inning. Pleasant got the win advancing to 4-1
on the season and Brittany Elliot of Ferrum was credited
with the loss.
With the split, Peace advanced to 14 -6 overall, 1-3
