BURLINGTON, N.C. - Peace College became the first team eliminated from the 2007 USA South Conference Softball Tournament when Ferrum College defeated the Pacers 3-1 Friday afternoon in the penultimate game of the day.

The Panthers (16-23) now move on to play third-seeded Greensboro College Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. Saturday game times have all been moved up by one hour in an effort to get the tournament completed by Saturday night.

The eight-team, double-elimination tournament was originally scheduled to have the championship on Sunday. Saturday's championship is now scheduled for 3:00 with the 'if' game set for 5:00.

FC scored one run in the second and after Peace (25-15) tied it with one of its own in the third, scored once in the fourth and another in the sixth to clinch the victory.

Lady Panthers pitcher Kim Cox (5-8) did the rest - she allowed just the one run on four hits and three walks while striking out five in the complete game victory.

PC was able to bring the tying run to the plate in the seventh after pinch hitter Alex Byers drew a one-out walk, but Cox got a strikeout and a pop to second to end the threat.

First baseman Lauren Blalock was 3-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Ferrum offense.
