Raleigh, NC – The Peace College tennis team defeated Wilson College 8-1 today in non-conference action to pick up their second win of the spring season.

Peace jumped out to a 3-0 lead as Liza Bridgers/Anna Hesmer, Michelle Atkinson/Ellen Smith and Denishia Craven/Cyndi Mandesse were 8-0, 8-1 and 8-3 winners in doubles play.

In singles action, Peace’s Liza Bridgers easily defeated Wilson’s Samantha May at the #1 flight 6-0, 6-0. Bridgers advanced to 3-2 on the season. At #2 singles, Anna Hesmer defeated Nicole Smith in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 picking up her first win of the season. Peace’s Ellen Smith was defeated by Mary Miller at #3 7-5, 6-1 to drop to 4-3 on the season.
Michelle Atkinson (2-1) defeated Ruthie Gant 6-2, 6-2 at #4. Kristin Robinson (3-2) won at #5 defeating Lyndsay Smith 6-0, 6-0. At #6 Lucy Mauney (1-3) defeated Kim Crowell 6-0, 6-2, picking up her first win of the season.

Peace will be in action again on Wednesday hosting William Smith at 3:30 PM.
