Staunton, VA – The Peace College tennis team picked up a win on the road today defeating Mary Baldwin College 7-2 in non-conference action. Peace advanced to 3-5 overall with the win.

Peace jumped out to a good start winning all three doubles matches. At #1 Liza Bridgers/Anna Hesmer (4-4) defeated Kourtney Traina/Nicole Koiner 8-1. Ellen Smith/Michelle Atkinson defeated Melissa Parsells/Dasha Caron 8-5 at #2 doubles and at #3 doubles, Kristin Robison/Denishia Craven won by forfeit.

In Singles action, Peace dropped two at the #1 and #3 spot but picked up wins at #2, #4 and #5 and won by forfeit at #6. At #1 Liza Bridgers was defeated by Kourtney Traina 7-5, 6-0 to drop to 3-5 on the season. Anna Hesmer defeated Nicole Koiner at the #2 flight 6-3, 2-6 and 10-5 to advance to 2-6 overall. Ellen Smith (#3) was defeated by Melissa Parsells 4-6, 6-3 and 10-7 to drop to 2-6 overall. At #4 singles, Michelle Atkinson (3-1) defeated Dasha Caron 7-5, 7-6. Kristen Robison (4-3) defeated Caitlin Crowe at #5 singles 6-1, 6-0 and Denishia Craven won by forfeit at the #6 flight.

Peace will be in action again on Wednesday hosting NCAA Division II Mount Olive College at 3:30 pm.
