Ferrum, VA – The Peace College volleyball team split a pair of matches over the weekend by defeating North Carolina Wesleyan College in three games (30-28, 30-28, 30-24), but fell to Shenandoah University in five games (30-27, 32-34, 30-25, 22-30, 12-15) on Saturday.

In the opening match Peace found plenty of offensive firepower from Annie Lyons and Nicole Corn. Lyons recorded twelve kills in the winning effort, while Corn added another eleven to give Peace the three game sweep. Erin Pike and Bridget Corbitt combined to give the Pacers thirty-five set assists and Jordan Morris led the team with ten digs. Corn also chipped in nine digs to add to her stellar play.

In the second game, Shenandoah was able to slide by the Pacers in five games after the Pacers jumped out to a 2-1 lead after three games. Peace dropped the final two games giving the Hornets the win. The trio of Annie Lyons, Kelsey Midgett, and Nicole Corn helped spark the Pacer offense. Lyons recorded seventeen kills in the match, while Midgett pounded out ten, and Corn slapped fourteen down. Corn also contributed with twelve digs and six service aces. Setters Erin Pike and Bridget Corbitt both eclipsed the twenty set assists mark with Pike coming up with twenty-six and Corbitt flipping up twenty. Jordan Morris was able to come up with twenty-one digs on the afternoon.

Following the two matches Peace moves to 7-7 overall (1-5 USA South). The Pacers will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Danville, VA to take on Averett University.
