Raleigh, VA
– Peace College dropped their opening match to
Meredith College (23-3-, 30-19, 21-30, 30-19, 8-15)
in five games, but bounced back to take down Mary Baldwin
College (30-22, 30-19, 30-21) in the night cap on Saturday
in a clean sweep.
The Pacers were led on offense by Kelsey Midgett who
registered sixteen kills in the match, followed by Nicole
Corn (eight kills), and Jordan Morris (seven kills)
in the opening match. Setter Erin Pike and Bridget Corbitt
shared the duties and combined for thirty-eight set
assists versus Meredith. Corn also contributed with
thirteen digs with Stephanie Pinnell adding another
fourteen.
In the second game Peace came out gunning. The Pacers
had even distribution across the board on offense. Desiree
Dickens, Shamica Phillips, and Nicole Corn were able
to put down eight kills a piece, while Pike and Corbitt
matched each other with fourteen set assists. Corn and
Stephanie Pinnell led the Peace defensive effort with
thirteen and twelve digs respectively.
Peace moves to 8-9 overall (1-6 USA South) and will
be back in action on Tuesday night when they travel
to Winston Salem, NC where they will take on Salem College,
a team that the Pacers have already defeated once this
season. First serve is set for 7:00 PM.
