Raleigh,
NC - Peace hires new SID/SWA
Peace
College Athletic Director Kelly Johnson announces changes
to the Pacer staff.
Wendy Jones
joins as the new Senior Woman Administrator/Sports Information
Director. She served four years as Athletic Director
as well as Head Varsity Coach for Volleyball and Women’s
Basketball at Raleigh Charter High School. During her
tenure she developed a cohesive athletic program that
continues to succeed. She also secured the school’s
membership in the NCHSAA Mid-State 1A athletic conference.
Jones received
her BA in Mathematics/Economics from Agnes Scott College,
Atlanta, GA and her MA in Sports Administration from
nearby East Carolina University. Jones spent her last
two years in property management in Clayton, NC where
she currently resides.
Beverly
Lineberger will serve as the Pacers new Head Volleyball
Coach. Lineberger led Apex High School to 7 Tri-Severn
Conference Championships during her 9-year tenure as
head coach. Her 2001 & 2005 teams competed in the
4A State Semi-Finals. As co-host of the NCHSAA State
Volleyball Championships, Coach Lineberger served as
the Tournament Director for 8 years. She coordinated/instructed
summer camps, including a volleyball camp for middle
school girls while at Apex. During the last decade,
Lineberger officiated multiple sports for NCSU intramurals,
Cary Parks and Recreation, and USA Volleyball.
Lineberger
received a BS in both Biological Sciences and Science
Education from NCSU. She was a recipient of the NC Teaching
Fellows Scholarship and proceeded to teach wildlife
management at NCSU and science while at Apex HS.
Former Pacer
staff member Heather Sulkowski joins the volleyball
staff at Limestone College, Gaffney, SC as Assistant
Volleyball Coach. Limestone is a member of the DII Carolinas-Virginia
Athletic Conference. Under the direction of Head Coach
Tim Loesch, former Assistant Coach at Peace College,
the Lady Saints secured the regular season conference
title in 2006 and finished runner-up in the CVAC tournament.
While coaching
at Peace from 2002-2006, Sulkowski's teams constantly
improved and were consistently competitive. She worked
hard to get the program back to the level of success
she experienced here as a player. Her first season coaching
was a rebuilding year, followed by the school's debut
as a USA South Athletic Conference member, the first
all female institution in North Carolina ever to do
so. In Sulkowski's final three years, she coached Peace
to at least 12 wins each season, along with a fourth
and sixth place finish in the highly competitive USA
South. The Pacer staff wishes Sulkowski well during
this exciting transition!
