Raleigh, NC--The Pacers played an outstanding game tonight against the Cougars of Averett University but came up short in the final seconds of regulation (51-49). The Pacers actually outshot Averett on the game with 34.4%. But the Cougars led from the free throw line shooting 15-17 at 88.2% on the game. Peace only went to the line 7 times. Junior guard Christy Freeman (Lumberton, NC/Lumberton) came alive tonight scoring 15 points with 6-9 shooting. Freeman was 3-4 from the line and recorded 2 assists and 2 steals.

Junior forward Lauren Seeger (Greensboro, NC/Page) led the Pacers with 9 rebounds and led all with 4 offensive boards. Seeger added 7 points shooting 1-1 from the stripe. Junior forward Anna Prorock (Raleigh, NC/N Raleigh Christian) grabbed 5 rebounds in only 13 minutes of play. And sophomore guard LeAnne Horne (Monroe, NC/Parkwood) led all with 4 assists.

Taylor Poirier led the Cougars with 20 points and 2 assists. Gretchen Sheperty grabbed 6 rebounds and added 13 points in the paint.

Peace continues the home stetch Saturday, February 9 hosting a THINK PINK game in support of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's breast cancer awareness initiative.
