Fayetteville,
NC--The Pacer Basketball squad traveled to Fayetteville
for a tough match-up versus USA South leader, the Monarchs
of Methodist University (86-48). The Monarchs dominated
the game from the early minutes. The Pacer defense held
true recording 11 steals in the game, but offensively
the team continues to struggle.
Peace sophomore guard LeAnne Horne
(Monroe, NC/Parkwood) led her team with 13 points shooting
6-12 from the field. Horne added 2 steals and 2 offensive
rebounds for the Pacers. Sophomore forward Brenna Mickey
(Winston-Salem, NC/North Forsyth) continues to help
Peace with her inside-outside game. She added 11 points
in 5-8 shooting. Mickey added 2 steals and 3 rebounds
to the list for Peace. First-year guard Emma Weavil
(Kernersville, NC/R.B. Glenn) led her team with 3 assists
in her 26 minutes on the floor.
Methodist filled the Riddle Center
with pink in support of the WBCA's Think Pink Week,
including the team in pink uniforms. Four of the Monarchs
finished the game in double figures with Dawn Sanderson
leading with 13 points and 4 steals.
The Pacers travel down the road for
a meeting with cross-town rival Meredith College Saturday,
February 9. Game tips off at 2:00pm in Weatherspoon
