Ferrum, VA--The
Ferrum Panthers handed Peace a loss tonight in Virginia
(77-62). Peace came out strong controlling the momentum
much of the first period. The Pacers held their largest
lead of 8 points at 9:40 and maintained that lead until
Ferrum tied the game for the sixth time with 2:25 to
go in the half. The Panthers outran the Pacers from
the start of the second half and never lost control.
Junior guard LeAnne Horne (Monroe,
NC/Parkwood) continued her trend and led the Pacer offense
with 14 points in 7-14 (50%) shooting in the loss. Horne
led all with 5 steals and added 3 assists. Christy Freeman
(Lumberton, NC/Lumberton), Candra Hill (Clinton, NC/Clinton)
and Margaret Minton (Oak Ridge, NC/Bishop McGuiness)
added 8 points apiece. Freeman and Hill each dropped
in 2 from 3-point territory and Freeman and Minton were
a perfect 2-2 from the stripe.
Ferrum's Miranda Carrasco led all
with 28 points in the win. Ali Davenport added 19 including
a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line. Davenport completed
her double-double with 11 rebounds.
The Pacers move up to Staunton, VA
tomorrow for the final game of the season versus the
Fighting Squirrels of Mary Baldwin College. Thank you
