Raleigh, NC--Peace College defeated Salem College in this afternoon's Championship Game of the 2007 Jackie Ammons Memorial Tournament to win the title (64-55). The Spirits consistently challenged the defensive efforts of the Pacers during the fast-paced game. But Peace maintained composure and continued to make patient decisions at the other end. Junior local Brittany Lynn earned the Tournament MVP award finishing the day with her first career double-double at 13 points and 13 rebounds. Lynn added 4 assists and a steal to help her teammates in the win. Junior teammate Christy Freeman earned a spot on the All-Tournament team with her strong defense. Freeman recorded 2 steals, 1 field goal and 6 assists in the win.

Junior Lauren Seeger recorded a career-high 18 points from the floor tonight. Seeger grabbed 7 rebounds and offered 1 assist for the Pacers. Sophomore guard Candra Hill changed the momentum with a 3-point shot at 2:29 left in the game. The Spirits never had another chance to challenge the Pacer victory. Hill finished with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

Salem's Kelsey Rector scored a team-high 17 points for the Spirits and grabbed 7 rebounds. Crystal Mills led with 11 rebounds and 6 points in the loss. Rector and Casey Jones earned All-Tournament Team honors for the Spirits. Bennett's ShaRhonda LaBoard and Lauren Kreckie from Simmons College rounded out the All-Tournament Team. The young leadership of this Pacer squad shows certain promise of a strong season. Peace looks ahead to host Hollins University Sunday, November 25 at 2:00pm. See you on the sidelines!
