Macon, GA--The
Pacers traveled to Macon, GA to play the Pioneers of
Wesleyan College, members of the Great South Athletic
Conference. Peace returned home with an easy win to
bring their record to 4-1 during the first few weeks
of play (84-19). Coming off a tough loss to Otterbein
College, Peace took pride in the win which enjoyed double-digit
minutes from every team member and 2 double-doubles.
First-year guard Emma Weavil (Kernersville,
NC/RB Glenn) led her team with 8 assists in the win.
Weavil added 6 points and 2 rebounds. Other first-year
Margaret Minton (Oak Ridge, NC/Bishop McGuiness) added
one from outside the arc for a total 9 points, 2 steals
and 3 rebounds. Leadership from forwards junior Lauren
Seeger (Greensboro, NC/Page) and sophomore Emily Deal
(Millers Creek, NC/West Wilkes) kept the Pacers on top.
Seeger recorded a double-double, 11 rebounds and 12
points. Deal added her own double-double leading with
13 rebounds adding 10 points.
Junior captains Amanda Cross (Clemmons,
NC/Bishop McGuiness) and Christy Freeman (Lumberton,
NC/Lumberton) helped the Pacers in the front court.
Cross added 11 points and 3 assists for her team. Freeman
led with 5 steals for the Pacers adding 7 points and
grabbing 2 rebounds.
Peace stays on the road traveling
to Winston-Salem Wednesday for another match-up with
the Spirits of Salem College. Peace defeated the Spirits
in the Jackie Ammons Tournament Championshipp by 9 points.
