Raleigh, NC--Two Peace College student-athletes earned recognition for skills unrelated to sport fundamentals. Senior softball player Joanie Blevins was recently recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as an NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete. Student-athletes who achieve a 3.5 GPA or better are recognized by the association. Blevins finished the 2006-2007 academic year with a 3.542 cumulative GPA.

Former Basketball Pacer E.B.Watson '07 was recognized by the NCAA as a DIII Conference Winner for their annual Sportsmanship Award. Nominees must consistently exhibit values of respect, fairness, civility, honesty and integrity in the sports arena as well as outside the competition setting. Nominees must also be in good academic standing.

Congratulations to each of these student-athletes for their outstanding efforts beyond the court and field!

Head Softball Coach Charlie Dobbins was re-elected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association DIII All-American & Coach of the Year Committee for a 2nd term. Coach Dobbins, in his 9th year at Peace College, will represent the Atlantic division on the Awards Committee for the next 2 years.
