Cary, NC--The
Peace Pacers were dealt an 8-0 loss in their 1st conference
match of the season from the Monarchs of Methodist University.
Leading the way for the Monarchs was Crystal Bradley
who earned a hat trick netting the 1st two goals of
the match and adding her 3rd unassisted goal in the
2nd period. The Monarchs were aggressive, offensively
outshooting the Pacers 54-10 on the day. Sophomore Mary
Caitlin Smith from Lumberton, NC fought hard on the
defensive end for the Pacers forcing key defensive stops
throughout the match. Sophomore Jennifer Gilbert of
Burlington, NC played solid for the Pacers in the back.
Local freshman Pacer goalkeeper Sherry Revels earned
24 saves in the net.
The Monarchs move to 5-1 (1-0 USA
South) while the Pacers fall to 1-5-1 (0-1 USA South).
The Pacers take the field Saturday in their next match-up
against host conference member Shenandoah University.
Peace will battle the Bishops of NC Wesleyan when the
team returns to the home field on Saturday, September
29 at 6:00pm at SAS Soccer Complex.
