Raleigh, NC--The Pacers defeated fellow USA South member today 6-1 with a strong offensive effort. Peace outshot the Cougars 45-15 in the win. Sophomore offensive leader Harlonda Smith scored a hat trick for the Pacers all in the 2nd period. Each of her goals went unassisted, her 3rd scored in the final few minutes of the match.

First-year forward Megan Franklin started the Pacers off at 6:34 with a goal assisted by Smith. Sophomore mid-fielder Haley Bright added goal number 2 for Peace 9 minutes later assisted by sophomore Heatherlynn Honeycutt. Honeycutt added a the first goal of the 2nd period with a sweet passing exhibition from Smith-to-Bright-to-Honeycutt-to-net. Averett countered in period 2 with a goal from Christy Urso.

The defensive backfield for the Pacers pushed back any offensive efforts from the Cougars. First-year sweeper Katelynn Spencer, sophomore Mary Caitlin Smith and junior Salma Taylor worked together to limit any attack formed by the Cougars.

Harlonda Smith led her team with 17 shots and 3 goals. Sophomores Randal McLean and Honeycutt had 7 a piece. Mary Caitlin Smith added 6 within her defensive push. And Bright added 5 from the mid-field.
