Virginia Beach,
VA--The Atlantic Beach Blast Softball Tournament schedule
shuffled a bit after Thursday's rainy weather altering
the Pacers' games on Leap Day. The squad faced Wilkes
University of Pennsylvania in the first game Friday
morning dominating over the Lady Colonels 12-2 in five
innings.
Stephanie Monette (Conway, SC/Newberry
College) earned the win giving up four hits and two
runs in the game. First-year short stop Jessica Hogan
(Denton, NC/Southwestern Randolph) led the Pacer offense
with 3 singles and 2 RBIs. Junior transfer Tiffany DeLeone
(Clinton, NC/Louisburg College) added 2 singles, 2 RBIs,
including a sacrifice bunt. Senior outfielder Kenni
Seagroves hit a 2-run triple in the third inning to
secure the Peace advantage.
The Colonels' Kathy Dalton hit 2 singles
driving in the teams 2 runs. Gina Stefanelli added a
single in the top of the third.
Peace held their own against Lynchburg
College, ranked eleventh nationally, in the Noon game
losing 3-1. The Pacers recorded 5 hits in the loss including
a double from Joanie Blevins (Thurmond, NC/East Wilkes)
in the bottom of the sixth. First baseman Holly Braswell
(Raleigh, NC/Garner) earned the lone RBI with a fielder's
choice.
First-year pitcher Haley Suitt (Creedmoor,
NC/South Granville) gave up 5 hits and 2 runs in four
innings in her first collegiate start in the circle.
Sophomore Ashley Stansbury (Rougemont, NC/Northern Durham)
finished the game allowing 3 hits and 1 run from the
Hornets.
The Pacers are scheduled to face Bates
University and host school Virginia Wesleyan College
at Princess Anne Park in Virginia Beach beginning at
11:00am Saturday. See you on the sidelines!
