NC--The Pacers swept the NC Wesleyan Bishops at Edge
Field today in Rocky Mount. Ashley Stansbury (Rougemont,
NC/Northern Durham) earned two wins from the circle
today beginning with the two-hit shutout in game one's
3-0 victory. Stansbury earned a win for the 5-4 victory
in game two entering in relief in the sixth. The sweep
improved the Pacers to 19-9 overall (5-1 USA South).
The Bishops move to 10-8 overall (1-5 USA South).
In game one Kenni Seagroves (Apex,
NC/Apex)hit a two-run single in the fourth to put the
Pacers on top for good. Stansbury added an RBI single
in the fifth to complete the offense of the game. The
Bishops added two singles in the loss from Alexis Gallop
and Ashley Bass but could not score.
Stansbury gave the Pacers an early
lead in game two hitting a two-run homer in the first.
The Bishops countered in the bottom of the inning with
two RBI singles from Libby Fulford and Payton Gordon.
Kristyn Trogdon (Asheboro, NC/Southwestern Guilford)
doubled in the second and eventually scored the third
run for Peace. The Bishops tied the game in the bottom
of the frame.
Both teams scored on fielding errors
in the fourth to bring the score to 4-4. Joanie Blevins
(Thurmond, NC/East Wilkes) drew a two-out walk in the
seventh and moved around to score on another Bishops
error. Stansbury struck out three of four Bishops in
the bottom of the seventh to end the game.
Peace hosts Christopher Newport University
Saturday for a league double header beginning at 2:00pm.
Following this match-up, the Pacers begin a three-game
