Both teams played evenly in the first two innings of game one before the Hornets made a 5 hit, 5 run move in the third to take control of the game. The Pacers pressured the Hornet defense with a single up the middle from Ashley Stansbury (Rougemont, NC/Northern Durham). Joanie Blevins (Thurmond, NC/East Wilkes) drew a walk moving Stansbury to second. First-year Kasie Moore (Clayton, NC/Clayton) grounded out to the pitcher pushing her teammates into scoring position. Kenni Seagroves (Apex, NC/Apex) scored Stansbury and Blevins on a single through the middle. Shenandoah stopped the Pacers and scored two runs of their own in the bottom of the frame to end the scoring for the game.

The Hornets started game two with a two-run triple in the first. Both teams left runners on base in the second with one hit apiece. Courtney Long (Nakina, NC/South Columbus) walked in the third and stole second. Jessica Hogan (Denton, NC/Southwestern Randolph) moved Long to third with a sacrifice. Stansbury hit an RBI single to put the Pacers on the board.

Peace retired the Hornets quickly in the bottom of the third creating an opportunity to tie the game. Kenni Seagroves followed-through for the Pacers with an RBI double. Seagroves scored Blevins who reached on a Hornet error. Shenandoah made a pitching change and the Hornets forced Peace to leave Seagroves at third.

Peace regained momentum in the fifth scoring two runs off a single from Hogan and unselfish at-bats from Stansbury and K Moore. Long led the inning with a walk and Hogan moved her to second with a bunt. Stansbury moved Long into scoring position, and K Moore earned an RBI with a sacrifice to left field. The Hornets added a run off 2 hits in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game. Peace went cold in the next two innings leaving 2 potential runs on base. The Hornets ended the game in the seventh with a 2-run double to center field.
