Staunton, VA--The Pacers delivered a two-win day versus the Squirrels of Mary Baldwin College today in Virginia (8-6, 14-3). Peace improves to 8-6 in the conference, 22-14 overall. The Squirrels drop to 0-14 in league play, 3-28 overall.

Peace took an early lead in game one with a lead-off single from Courtney Long (Nakina, NC/South Columbus) who then stole second base. Short stop Jessica Hogan (Denton, NC/Southwestern Randolph) advanced to first on an error and moved Long into scoring position. Hogan stole second just before Ashley Stansbury homered to put the Pacers up 3-0.

J Brown hit a two-run homer for the Squirrels in the bottom of the frame and C Majchszak hit one in the third inning to tie the game. The Pacers made another run in the fifth beginning with an RBI double from Ashley Stansbury (Rougemont, NC/Northern Durham). Stansbury scored Hogan who drew a walk to begin the inning. Kenni Seagroves (Apex, NC/Apex) doubled to center field to move Stansbury to third. Joanie Blevins loaded the bases with a single to third. Tiffany DeLeone drew a walk to advance the runners and add to the Pacer lead. Kristyn Trogdon (Asheboro, NC/Southwestern Randolph) hit an RBI single before ending the inning.

The Squirrels threatened the Pacer lead in the bottom of the sixth scoring 2 runs off 3 hits and a Pacer error. Peace managed to close the inning and added 2 more runs to cushion the lead. Blevins singled to left setting up DeLeone's 2-run homer to seal the win. Mary Baldwin attacked the defense again in the bottom of the seventh with 2 doubles and a single. The Pacers ended the flurry of activity with a double play from Hogan.

Peace mercied the Squirrels in game 2 starting with a 7-run, 4-hit first inning. Mary Baldwin challenged with a 3-run inning in the third off 3 hits. The Moore twins added 2 runs in the fourth: Kasie led off with a single up the right side and Lindsey drove her in with a home run. The Pacers ended the threat with 4 more runs in the top of the fifth. The defense held the Squirrels scoreless to end the game in five.

Join the Pacers back at Wachovia Athletic Park Wednesday, April 9 as we honor our seniors and play the Avenging Angels of Meredith College. The conference double header begins at 3:00pm. Saturday, April 12 the team hosts Greensboro College in the StrikeOut Cancer game. Bring your PINK generosity to the field as the Pacers raise money for the American Cancer Society.
