Raleigh, NC--Peace College Volleyball came to life today in the Hermann Student Center. The Pacers hosted a USA South Tri-Match with the Fighting Squirrels of Mary Baldwin College and the Monarchs of Methodist University. The Pacers defeated the Squirrels in the first match of the day 3-0. The first game went to 30-28, a close and exciting game to begin the day. Peace decidely won the 2nd game 30-19, but the Fighting Squirrles fought back only to lose to the Pacers 31-29. Senior setters Bridget Corbitt and Erin Pike led their team today. Corbitt from Moyock, NC finished the day with 36 assists and Pike of Kinston, NC recorded 37. This pair of setters led their squad to a 1-1 finish for the day with close games, long rallies, and thrilling moments that earned constant cheers from the crowd. Corbitt also added 14 digs and 3 aces to round out her day. Pike finished with 21 digs and 2 kills.

While Peace lost their second match of the day to Methodist University, Peace played with a sense of pride, energy and enthusiasm that will carry them to their next match. Senior middle Shamica Phillips gave the fans 26 kills for the day adding 7 defensive blocks. Freshman counterpart Kerra Gore recorded 20 kills and 3 blocks. The Pacers defeated the Monarchs in game one, 30-25, but lost the next three closely at 30-25, 31-29, and 30-14.

Other standouts for the Pacers include senior Nicole Corn with 11 kills and 19 digs. Junior libero Stephanie Sports earned 39 digs to lead the day at libero. Sophomore outside Megan Melchiorre of Durham, NC nailed 7 kills and 28 digs for the Pacers. Junior transfer Lindsey Ulmer had a solid day playing 7 games, recording 3 kills and 2 digs for her team.
