Raleigh, NC--In
front of a traditional Peace vs. Meredith crowd in the
Weatherspoon Gym, the Pacers defeated the Avenging Angels
3-2 (27-30, 30-18, 23-30, 30-22, 15-12). This was the
pair's first conference meeting as Meredith College
joined the USA South this year. The Angels stole the
first game from the Pacers, but Peace fought back to
tie the match. The 3rd and 4th games followed the same
pattern, but the Pacers pushed past the Angels to win
in 5. Long rallies and exciting finishes forced thrilling
match right to the end!
Sophomore Megan Melchiorre of Durham,
NC led all with 31 digs. She also recorded 10 kills,
3 assists, and 1 ace. Senior middle Shamica Phillips
once again helped the Pacers with 13 kills, 2 blocks,
and 1 dig. Her opposite, first-year Kerra Gore, had
11 kills, 2 blocks, and 1 dig. Senior setter Erin Pike
held up her end recording 22 assists, 8 digs, and 1
ace for the Pacers.
The Pacers host this cross-town rival
Tuesday, October 23 at 7:00pm. Wear your green and help
