Hermann Student Center |
|
| |
The Hermann Athletic Center offers one of the best home court
advantages in the USA South Conference. With fans and fellow
students just feet from the court, the 600-person gymnasium
provides an intimate and exciting atmosphere for the volleyball and
men’s and women’s basketball teams.
Built in 1963, the Hermann Center is a staple on the downtown
Raleigh campus and reflects the tradition and commitment to
progress at WPU. The gymnasium has undergone renovations twice in
the past decade, with the last upgrade improving men and
women’s locker rooms in the summer of 2012. The facility also
features a newly redesigned floor and dynamic center court
logo.
In addition to basketball and volleyball facilities, the Hermann
Center also houses an auxiliary gym, intramural space, fitness and
weight room facilities, and the athletic training room.

The Ragland Tennis Courts |
|
| |
William Peace University tennis has long been one of the
premiere amateur programs in the state and the Ragland Tennis
Courts are a big part of that tradition. Serving as the home to
Pacer tennis for more than 40 years, the Ragland Courts have seen
the Pacers take down ACC squads and win six NJCAA Region X
championships.
The Ragland Tennis facility is located on the Halifax Street
side of campus by the Herman Athletic Center and features six
courts, three of which are lighted. The Ragland family funded
its construction in 1966, which is when the three all-weather
tennis courts were built. Two additional lighted courts were added
in 1973 and a third was built in 1977, which was also funded by the
Ragland family.
In 2004, the Ragland family sponsored the renewal of the Ragland
Courts with resurfacing, new windscreens, fencing and
landscaping.

The Wachovia
Athletic Field |
|
| |
The Wachovia Athletic Field is the athletic centerpiece on the
William Peace University campus. Located just steps away from
on-campus dorms, the Wachovia Athletic Field has offered a
fan-friendly environment for the Pacer softball team since
2000.
The facility includes a field house with locker rooms, enclosed
dugouts, scorer’s booth, restrooms, an equipment room and
coach's office. It was constructed in part using funds raised by
Wachovia Bank.
The field dimensions are friendly to right-hand hitters with a
short left field (190 feet) but deep 215 feet to center field. The
12-foot-tall right field wall is the signature feature of the field
as our own Green Monster running down the sideline.
A state of the art sprinkler system also feeds the Bermuda grass
outfield with the batting cage and bullpen located beyond center
field.
