Nomination Guidelines
Policies and Procedures
The Peace College Hall of Fame was established in 2001 primarily to
recognize and preserve the memory of superior athletic careers of
former student-athletes. The purpose is to recognize those
individuals who made exceptional contributions to Peace College in
the field of athletics, either by virtue of their performance on
athletic teams or by meritorious efforts in years after leaving the
College.
Championship and other exceptional teams are also eligible for Hall of Fame consideration.
I. Criteria for Former Student-Athlete Nominees
A. Former student-athletes must be
at least five (5) years removed from Peace College.
B. The nominee must have earned at least two (2) letters in a
varsity intercollegiate sport.
C. Priority will be given to nominees who are graduates of Peace
College; however, nongraduates
with special circumstances or credentials may be considered.
D. The nominee is to be regarded for sportsmanship as well as
establishing a history of
involvement in sports.
E. Particular consideration will be given to nominees who earned
All-Region and/or All-
America honors.
II. Criteria for Peace College Personnel Nominees
A. The coach or administrative
nominee need not be a former Peace College student, but must
have served the college for a minimum of three (3) years.
B. Athletic trainer and team manager nominees must have served in
that capacity a minimum of
four (4) years.
C. Nominees will be considered on the basis of exemplary and
meritorious service, dedication,
impact on the program, and recognized standards of achievement.
III. Criteria for Team Nomination
A. Teams are eligible for nomination
when they are a minimum of ten (10) years removed from
the season of competition.
IV. Nominations
A. Nominations may be made by any
member of the Peace College community including
alumnae, former and present coaches, administrators, and
student-athletes.
B. Nomination applications will be included at least annually in
campus publications and
in Setting the Pace, the athletics newsletter.
V. Hall of Fame Committee
A. The committee shall consist of
the Director of Athletics, the Director of Alumnae Affairs,
Sports Information Director, Dean of Students and a member of the
Alumnae Association.
B. All previous individual inductees into the Hall of Fame will be
invited to serve on the
committee.
VI. Induction Procedure
A. No more than three (3)
individuals will be inducted each year.
B. No more than one (1) Peace College personnel nominee will be
inducted each year.
C. No more than one (1) team will be inducted each year.
D. All nominees will be submitted for final approval by the College
President, Provost, or other
appointed member of the college's administration.
VII. Awards and Recognition
A. Individual inductees will receive
a replica of the Hall of Fame plaque that will be
appropriately displayed in the athletics facilities of Peace
College.
B. Members of a team inducted into the Hall of Fame will receive
personal mementos. The
team plaque will be appropriately displayed at Peace College.
C. Inductees will be recognized at an annual function proposed by
the Hall of Fame Committee
and by the Peace College Director of Athletics and/or member of the
President's cabinet.
D. Hall of Fame plaques and mementos will be financed by the Peace
College Pacer Club.
