Peace SAAC Claims Second Place in League Campaign

Fayetteville, NC -- The USA South Athletic Conference office released today the results of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's Pennies for a Purpose spring campaign that ended March 31.  The Pacers raised $2024.01 good for second place in the 2010 competition and will donate all money collected to the Duke Children's Hospital.

The Hornets of Shenandoah University earned the championship exceeding Peace by just over $400.  SU joined five other conference schools by donating their collection to the Haitian relief effort.

PC student-athletes jumpstarted its Pennies for a Purpose campaign in February volunteering for the 16th Annual Mix 101.5 WRAL-FM Radiothon for Duke Children's.  Six Pacers traveled to Durham for a 5:30 am shift at the phone bank accepting pledges.

For the next two months, the PC SAAC change bandits "robbed" Peace College fans at various athletic events, and sold "kisses for kids" candy bags as well.  SAAC President Leilanie Ostiguy led the effort with an online auction that contributed more than $800 to the total.

The USA South institutions collected $6650.74 this spring, for a three-year initiative total of $13,737.98, and will donate to various organizations.
