Peace Student-Athletes Recognized Beyond Sports

Raleigh, NC -- During the Peace College Annual Awards Convocation Tuesday, April 27, four student-athletes received accolades for contributions beyond the playing field; seniors Randal McLean and Kimberly Zullo, and junior sisters Kasie and Lindsey Moore were each recognized.

Senior soccer player McLean earned the prestigious Laura Carpenter Bingham Excellence in Leadership Award.  Given to an outstanding senior who demonstrated excellence in her academic studies, campus leadership, civic participation, and in the important qualities of integrity and honor.  The recipient also represents an unfailing loyalty to Peace College and will significantly impact this world.  McLean was recently chosen as this year's student speaker during the commencement ceremony Saturday, May 8.

Zullo, who lettered as a senior in cross country and as a first-year basketball player, and McLean both earned the BIOS award in biological science.  The award was established in 1990 by two Peace College faculty members to recognize outstanding biology majors.

The Moore sisters, both of whom are three-year members of the Pacer softball squad, earned recognition for their outstanding efforts in buisness administration.  Lindsey received the W. Robert Everett Buisness Achievement Award presented to an outstanding student by the business faculty.  The business faculty presented Kasie with the Ida Withers Currie Award for her outstanding efforts in the discipline.  The award was established by James Curry in honor of his sister, a 1929 Peace graduate and former business instructor at the college.
