Cobbers claim Jackie Ammons Tournament crown

Raleigh, N.C. – Tricia Sorensen scored a game-high 17 points and was one of three scorers in double-digits for the Concordia Cobbers, who defeated the Salem Spirits, 73-46, to claim the championship in the Jackie Ammons Memorial Tournament.

Sorensen hit 7-of-11 from the floor and both free of her free throws. She also added eight rebounds and a block en route to winning MVP honors.

She was joined on the All-Tournament team by teammate Emily Thesing, who followed up a 19-point effort Friday night with 6 points, 8 assists and 3 steals on Saturday.

Alexandra Lippert just missed a double-double with 12 points and 9 rebounds, while Alley Fisher added 10 points for the Cobbers (2-0).

Shamaz Denerson led the Spirits (1-2) with 12 points and eight rebounds and represented Salem on the All-Tournament team.

Also earning All-Tournament honors were Morgan King from Guilford and Derrica Jones from Guilford.
