Getting to know Jessica Sturdivant
Senior volleyball player Jessica Sturdivant (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) recently answered a few questions about her time at Peace and what’s ahead.
Why did you choose Peace College?
I chose to come to Peace College because I was interested in
finishing school at a smaller, local school.
What's coach Daniels like in practices and
games?
Coach Daniels is a very intense and driven coach who wants us to
do our best whether it be in practice, games and school.
What person had the biggest impact on you during your time
at the college?
Every person that I have interacted with at Peace has impacted
me on some level; whether it be my instructors, coaches, various
office staff or friends I have come to love and appreciate each and
every one of them.
What did you think when you heard the school was going
co-ed?
To be honest I did not have very strong feelings one way or the
other about Peace going co-ed. However, as time has passed I
can say that I am not particularly excited about Peace going
co-ed because I think it will greatly impact
the environment in which we are to learn as well as the
curriculum.
What current issue do you feel most strongly about and
why?
I feel very strongly about our education system especially concerning local changes that are being made.
If you could sit down and have dinner with any three people
- alive or deceased - who would it be and why?
There are so many great individuals (deceased and/or alive) that
I would be honored and privileged to dine with.
However, in simply choosing three I would have to choose my
grandmother, Barbra Simpson, my grandfather, John Simpson and my
uncle, Greg Simpson. I would want to sit down and have dinner
with them because some of my
most cherished memory's stem from family dinners
with one another and I truly miss them more than anything.
What does the future hold for Peace volleyball?
I think the future holds great things for Peace volleyball
because the team is comprised of
very talented individuals in addition to a
dedicated coaching staff.
What will you do after you graduate?
After I graduate I want to travel, work and do mission work before I go back to school to get my masters in Occupational Therapy.
