Fall Practice Begins
Raleigh, N.C. - The Peace College Pacers hit the ground running with today's first practice sessions of the 2010 season. Volleyball, under head coach Kevin Daniels with the help of assistant coaches Enid Badillo, alumna Bridget Corbitt and volunteer John Lysik, are the first team to practice under the Hermann Student Center gymnasium's new, eco-friendly lights installed late this summer.
Daniels returned just five players from last year's squad, including his only upperclasswoman Amber Lowe. PC will suit up nine first-years to complete the squad.
In this week's preseason coaches poll, the Pacers were pegged to tie for seventh place with Ferrum in regular season standings. Peace completed the 2009 season in sixth with an 8-10 league record (13-19 overall).
Newcomer Keith Jenkins gathered his new soccer team at 5:45 am this morning for a preseason fitness test before heading to the field. Nine first-years and transfer Anne "AT'" Rodgers joined the five returners, including last year's most valuable player Melissa Moran, to complete the roster.
Peace completed the 2009 season in ninth place in league standings and was picked to have the same finish this fall in the USA South's preseason coaches' poll.
The preseason poll for the final Pacer fall team, cross country, will be released next Wednesday.
