Peace College Softball To Host Breast Cancer Awareness Day With Pacers Go Pink Game
Raleigh, NC – The Peace College
softball team will host a “Breast Cancer Awareness Day”
on Wednesday, April 4th in conjunction with their scheduled double
header versus cross-town rival Meredith College. The “Pacers
Go Pink Game” as it is being dubbed, will be played at
Wachovia Athletic Park, located on the beautiful campus of Peace
College in downtown Raleigh. Game time versus the visiting Angels
begins at 3:00 PM, with the night cap being played at 5:00 PM. For
directions to the event, please go to www.gopeacepacers.org.
The “Pacers Go Pink Game” is a sponsored event thanks
to The Strike-Out Cancer initiative, which unites the American
Cancer Society and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association to
help raise funds and awareness to fight cancer. The program
leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and
professional excellence of fastpitch softball coaches nationwide to
help increase cancer education and promote healthy living through
awareness efforts and fundraising activities.
North Carolina State head coach Lisa Navas and her 2006 ACC
Championship Wolfpack softball team will be the special guests and
throw out a "first pitch to strikeout cancer" between games at
approximately 5:00 PM. Other activities scheduled include a guest
appearance by Wool E. Bull, the very popular mascot for the Durham
Bulls triple A baseball team. Concessions will be served in the
form of hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, and Krispy
Kreme donuts. Proceeds from concession sales will go directly to
the American Cancer Society and the National Fastpitch Coaches
Association. Other donations will be accepted in the form of a
dunking booth, where $1.00 will get the patron four throws to dunk
special guests into the tank.
Spectators are asked to wear pink clothing to show their support of
the activities, while both teams will also wear pink game jerseys.
The uniforms will be auctioned off throughout the game with the
proceeds also going to help find a cure for cancer. Admission for
the event is free. The game will be broadcasted via internet at
