Pleasant and Dobbins Named to USA South All-Conference Team (Shoemaker Earns Honorable Mention)
Raleigh, NC –Lauren Pleasant was named to the USA South
First Team All-Conference at the center field position, as
announced by the conference office Tuesday morning. Pleasant, a
local standout from Garner High School, led the Pacers softball
team in hits with 53 on the season, and a batting average of .482,
also the highest on the team. Pleasant a junior, was named the
Rookie of the Year her first year at Peace, at the utility
position. This is the second consecutive year in which Pleasant has
been named first team All-Conference. Pleasant received the
team’s Defensive Player of the Year award last season and was
named the team’s Most Valuable Player her first year at
Peace.
Another area standout, senior Niki Dobbins, from Southeast Raleigh
High School, was named to second team All-Conference at the utility
position, for the third consecutive season. A dobbin led the team
in walks with 19, and was second in stolen bases with 15. Dobbins
has also been a member of the USA South All Academic Team for the
past two years.
In her first year at Peace, after transferring from Queens College
in Charlotte, Nicole Shoemaker, a sophomore catcher, was named
Honorable Mention. Shoemaker’s batting average on the season
was .383, good for second on the team. She was also second in
fielding percentage with .967.
The Peace Pacers are 23-15 overall, 5-9 in the USA South
Conference, finishing the season in 6th place. The Pacers will
begin conference tournament play this Thursday as they will take on
#3 seeded Ferrum College at 1:00 pm in Burlington, NC.
