Peace Softball Earns Five All-Conference Selections
Fayetteville,
NC – The USA South Athletic Conference announced it’s
All Conference Awards today and 4 Peace College players were
honored. A total of 39 athletes were named to the All-Conference
team for softball.
First-year pitcher and designated player, Ashley Stansbury
(Rougemont, NC/N. Durham) was the only Pacer named to the first
team. Stansbury was named to the team at the utility position
batting .407 on the year, with 47 RBI’s (1st in USA South),
and 10 homeruns (2nd in USA South). Stansbury managed a 9-8 overall
record from the mound this season with an ERA of 2.54 and was named
USA South rookie pitcher of the week on April 9th.
Senior left-fielder and pitcher, Lauren Pleasant (Raleigh,
NC/Garner) managed to be named to both the second team and the
honorable mention team at two different positions. Pleasant was
named to the second team in the outfield, with a fielding
percentage of .944. Pleasant batted .395 on the season with 38
RBI’s (5th in USA South), 16 doubles (1st in USA South), and
5 homeruns. On the mound, Pleasant went 9-3 on the season with an
ERA of 2.80.
Junior second baseman Joanie Blevins (Thurmond, NC/East Wilkes) and
sophomore first baseman Holly Braswell (Raleigh, NC/Garner), both
rounded up the honorees being named honorable mention. Blevins
batted .413 on the season with 52 hits (2nd in USA South) and 16
doubles (3rd in USA South). Belvins also hit 3 homeruns and had 22
RBI’s on the season. Braswell batted .407 with an amazing 12
homeruns (1st in USA South), breaking the Peace career record in
just one season. Braswell had 95 total bases (1st in USA South),
batted in 42 runs (2nd in USA South) and had a slugging percentage
of .841 (2nd in USA South). Braswell was named USA South player of
the week on March 5th.
The Pacers will be the 4th place seed in the upcoming USA South
Conference tournament being played in Burlington, NC beginning this
Friday. Peace is seed against #5 NC Wesleyan with a start time set
