Lauren Pleasant Named To NCCSIA All-State College Division Softball Team
Junior Lauren Pleasant was named to the NCCSIA All-State College
Division Softball First Team as announced wednesday.
Pleasant, a pitcher suffered an elbow injury this season and was
moved to center field when she began struggling from the mound
early in the season. Pleasant led the conference in on base
percentage, finished second in batting average with a .462 and was
third in doubles per game with 14. Pleasant was named to the first
team All-Conference in the USA South for the second consecutive
year, after earning Rookie of the Year honors her Freshman year,
and was named to the NFCA All-Atlantic Region Team for the second
consecutive season.
The NCCSIA all-state softball teams include two starting pitchers,
one catcher, four infielders, three outfielders and one designated
hitter. In the event of ties, all players included are honored on
the all-state team.
The team consists of NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA
student-athletes from North Carolina colleges and universities.
North Carolina sports information professionals submitted
nominations and NCCSIA members voted for the all-state teams.
The third annual NCCSIA softball all-state team is led by five
students from South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Tournament champion
Wingate University. Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association
(CIAA) titlist North Carolina Central and SAC runner-up
Lenoir-Rhyne both placed two players on the unit.
Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information
Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information
professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent
institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the
organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools.
Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university
or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of
responsibility lies within sports information. NCSSIA selects
all-state teams for men's and women's soccer, softball and baseball
on both the College and University (Division I) levels.
