Local Softball Standout Ends Successful Peace College Career with Jersey Retirement
Raleigh, NC
– Lauren Pleasant (Raleigh, NC/Garner High) ended a very
successful softball career at Peace College by having her #17
jersey retired at the Peace College Athletic Banquet on April 22,
2007.
Pleasant is the first softball player in the history of the program
to have her jersey retired. Over the past fours seasons, Pleasant
broke several Peace records including total career at bats, ending
her career with 462. Pleasant also holds career records in
strike-outs with 424, innings pitched with 476.2, pitching wins
with 45, shut-outs with 15 and career ERA at 2.33. Pleasant was
named USA South Rookie of the Year in 2004, All-Conference first
team in 2005 & 2006, and All-Conference second team and
honorable mention in 2007. She was also named to the NFCA
All-Atlantic Region teams in 2005 & 2006. Although Pleasant
will never compete as a Pacer again, her memory will always hang on
the outfield fence and on the club house wall of our softball
facility, Wachovia Athletic Park.
