Pacers Sweep Squirrels on Senior Day
Raleigh, NC-The Peace College softball team controlled today's doubleheader versus the Fighting Squirrels of Mary Baldwin College with two five-inning wins, 8-0 and 9-1. The Pacers (15-15, 8-6 USAS) moved up the USA South ranks to fifth with today's conference action.
Stephanie Simmons (Wilmington, NC) picked up a one-hitter in today's first game, including three strikeouts and one walk. She also earned her first hit in her first at bat this season scoring Ashleigh Harris (Garner, NC), who picked up and RBI-double, on a long single to right center.
Ashley Stansbury (Bahama, NC) took game two in five innings pitched. She allowed four hits with only one run earned, including seven strikeouts and two walks. At the plate, Stansbury went 2-4, including and double and a homerun with two RBIs.
First-year Amanda Beach (Garner, NC) led the offensive charge with six hits in seven at-bats on the day, including two doubles. Courtney Long (Nakina, NC) added a single but led with four stolen bases and four runs scored.
Senior Tiffany DeLeone (Clinton, NC) jumped in the mix with three hits in five at bats on senior day.
Peace travels across town to meet rival Meredith College in the pairs' StrikeOut Cancer day in support of breast cancer awareness. Wear your green and pink and come cheer on the Pacers. First pitch slated for 3:00 pm. See you on the sidelines!
