Peace Softball Splits with Angels

Raleigh, NC-The Pacers remained even overall after splitting today's league doubleheader with the Avenging Angels of Meredith College, 1-2 and 8-0.  Peace sits in a tie for fourth place with Methodist after today's action.

Ashley Stansbury (Bahama, NC) took the loss in game one allowing seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks.  Meredith's Arielle Stout earned her sixth win on the season.

Amanda Rothwell (Durham, NC) advanced to first on a walk in the second inning to eventually score on a passed ball.  The Pacers held the Angels at 1-0 until the final frame.

Angel Becki Roebock advanced on a single to center and also scored on a passed ball.  Valerie Sherrer hit an RBI-double to score Logan Hill for the win.

Pacer Stephanie Simmons (Wilmington, NC) earned her fifth win in game two allowing five hits with nine strikeouts and three walks.  Sherrer took the loss allowing Peace's Melissa Williams (Nashville, NC) an RBI-single in the fourth to score Stansbury who advanced as the leadoff on a walk.

Both teams went scoreless in the fifth before the Pacers rallied in the sixth scoring six runs in four hits.  Kristyn Trogdon (Asheboro, NC) and Morgan Weathington (Raleigh, NC) picked up a single apiece and both scored.  Amanda Beach (Garner, NC) and Kasie Moore (Clayton, NC) each earned a double in the inning during the team's offensive run.

Three more singles from Williams, Weathington, and Courtney Long (Nakina, NC) sealed the 8-0 win for Peace.

Peace travels to Greensboro College Friday for the final conference doubleheader of the season.  With a sweep of Ferrum today, The Pride sit in a tie for second in USA South standings with Shenandoah University.  The first pitch is slated for 1:00 pm.  The team returns to Wachovia Athletic Park Monday, April 13, for a non-league doubleheader with Shaw University.  See you on the sidelines!
