Pacers Drop Game One; Game Two Suspended with Peace Leading by Two
Greensboro, NC-The Pacers dropped game one in today's league doubleheader versus Greensboro College. Game two was suspended in the bottom of four due to lighting with Peace leading 6-4. With the USA South tournament opening in one week, a make-up remains unclear.
Stephanie Simmons (5-9) (Wilmington, NC) pitched a complete game allowing 7 earned runs in 13 hits. The Pride's Olivia McPherson (7-4) earned her seventh win on the season allowing only three earned runs in nine hits.
Greensboro opened the scoring with four runs in six hits in the bottom of two. Ryeleigh Loftin earned one of two Pride homeruns in that inning. Myra Clark added a second in the fifth to help seal the win for the hosts.
The Pacers fought back scoring a combined five in the top of three and four. Amanda Beach (Garner, NC) led the Peace effort with a two-RBI double in the third scoring Courtney Long (Nakina, NC) who advanced to the bases on a single to third.
Kasie Moore (Clayton, NC) earned her fourth homerun on the season in the fourth inning. Lindsey Moore (Clayton, NC), Ashleigh Harris (Garner, NC), and Morgan Weathington (Raleigh, NC) each added a single in the inning to help the Pacer effort.
Peace returns to Wachovia Athletic Park Monday, April 14, to host a non-league doubleheader versus Shaw University. The first pitch is slated for 3:00 pm. Visit the Pacer website for USA South tournament pairings, directions to Burlington, and weekend results. See you on the sidelines!
