Pacers Complete Regular Season with Two Over Shaw

Raleigh, NC-The Peace College softball team wrapped up the regular season today with a sweep over non-league neighbor Shaw University 6-2 and 11-2.  The Pacers improved to 18-17 going into the USA South tournament beginning Friday, April 17.  The Lady Bears dropped to 10-18 overall.

First-year pitcher Stephanie Simmons (6-9) (Wilmington, NC) pitched a complete game in the opener allowing 1 earned run in 4 hits with 12 strikeouts.  Shaw's Crystal Sanders took both losses for the Bears.

Ashley Stansbury (12-8) (Bahama, NC) earned the win for Peace in game two allowing two earned runs in four hits with seven strikeouts.  

Kasie Moore (Clayton, NC) led the Pacers with a combined three hits on the day, including a double in game two.  Stansbury led all with three RBIs and a homer in game two.  Amanda Beach (Garner, NC) added two hits, one RBI, and two stolen bases on the day. The Pacers play next in the opening round of the USA South tournament held at Springwood Park, Burlington, NC for the fourth consecutive year.  Peace faces league rival Methodist University Friday, April 17.  The first pitch is slated for 11:00 am.  Link HERE for USA South tournament pairings, directions, and results.  See you on the sidelines!
