Softball Player to Design Rain Barrel for State Fair Exhibit

Raleigh, NC-Morgan Weathington (Raleigh, NC/Cape Fear), a junior graphic design major and shortstop for the Peace College softball team, will participate in Green NC's The Art of Rain, rain barrel painting and design exhibition, during this year's North Carolina State Fair.  The barrels will be on display the duration of the fair, October 15-25, at the Green NC exhibit.

Local high school and college students will design and paint simple rain barrels, converted from used food-grade barrels to promote rainwater harvesting.  Submitted designs must fit a nature, green, conservative, or recycling theme.

Recommended by Head Softball Coach Charlie Dobbins, Weathington appreciates the opportunity to promote young, local talent as well as her school.  She plans to collaborate with other students from Peace's design program to "blend ideas and styles just to demonstrate the diversity of activities and personalities at Peace.  [She] wants it to be colorful with class and a little edge."
