Softball Drops Two to Quakers

Greensboro, NC -- The Pacers (3-3) dropped both games in today's non-league doubleheader versus the Quakers of Guilford College (5-0-1).  Game scores were 6-2 and 5-3.

Peace struggled in game one on both offense and defense today with six errors in the field and only four hits at the plate.  Courtney Long led off the game with a double to left and shortstop Morgan Weathington advanced on a single, but neither scored.

Guilford took advantage of the off day scoring five runs in the first two innings on three of the Pacer errors and four hits.

Peace put together a solid frame in the sixth to get on the board but would get no closer to GC.

Game two followed much the same pattern but with cleaner fielding and stronger bats from Peace.

Guilford took an early three-run lead and added a fourth in the bottom of five.

The Pacers rallied in the top of six earning three runs on five singles to challenge the hosts.  Guilford completed the frame and managed to hold Peace in the seventh for the win.

Long recorded four hits in eight at-bats with one RBI on the day.  First-year Lindsey Haver picked up two more hits in today's second game with an RBI-single in the sixth.  Sophomore Allison Gilmore pinch hit and picked up two hits in as many at-bats, scoring a run.
