Fayetteville, NC -- The USA South Athletic Conference office announced the first weekly honors for the 2010 softball today and Peace took three of the four spots.  Junior Courtney Long earned player of the week, senior Ashley Stansbury pitcher of the week, and Kendra Yearick rookie pitcher of the week.

The Pacers finished even after playing six consecutive games during the weekend.  Peace opened with two wins over nearby Division II Shaw University Friday, followed by a split series versus leagu opponent Greensboro College.  The Quakers of Guilford College swept PC in Sunday's doubleheader in Greensboro.

Third baseman Long hit .333 (6-for-18) with six runs scored, five RBI, one double, five walks and three stolen bases on the week.  In a doubleheader sweep of Shaw, she was a combined 2-for-5 with four runs scored, four RBI, three walks and two stolen bases.  In a doubleheader split with The Pride, Long scored two runs on two walks.  Finally, in two losses to Guilford, Long was a combined 4-for-8 with one run batted in, one double and one stolen base.

Stansbury tossed 9.0 innings and earned a 1-1 record to open her final season for the Pacers.  In a 14-0 victory over Shaw, Stansbury pitched four scoreless innings and allowed just two hits while striking out eight to get the win.  In an 2-0 loss to Greensboro, Stansbury pitched 5.0 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with one strikeout.

First-year Yearick recorded a 2-1 record to begin her career with Peace.  In a 16-4 win over Shaw, Yearick earned the victory by pitching 3.1 innings without allowing a run while giving up two hits, one walk and striking out six batters.  In a 3-2 victory over USA South foe Greensboro, Yearick went the distance, allowing two runs, only one of which was earned, on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts.  Finally, in a 5-3 loss to Guilford, Yearick tossed a complete-game and allowed five runs on eight hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

Peace hosts the Triangle Combat Classic Friday and Saturday, February 26-27, at Wachovia Athletic Park.  Wilson and Sweet Briar open the tournament Friday morning at 9:30 am followed by Agnes Scott and the Vixens.  The Pacers challenge Wilson at 1:30 pm and close the day with Agnes Scott.  See you on the sidelines!
