Pacers Drop Two to Hornets
Winchester, VA -- The Peace Pacers (15-20, 4-12 USAS) softball team endured a tough day at Henkel Harris Field. USA South foe Shenandoah University (17-12-1, 9-7 USAS) topped Peace 8-1 in game one and took game two 10-2 in six innings.
PC opened the scoring on an RBI-double from Melissa Williams. Morgan Weathington scored on the play.
But Shenandoah countered with six runs in the bottom of the frame on seven hits and three Pacer errors. The Hornets added two more runs over the next three innings to seal the win.
Game two played much the same way. SU out hit Peace 15-3 and scored seven runs in the bottom of the third to take Peace out of the game.
The Pacers scored two thanks to an RBI-single from Weathington. She scored Lindsey Haver who led off with a walk. Weathington scored with the help of a fielding error from the Shenandoah shortstop.
The Fighting Squirrels of Mary Baldwin host Peace Sunday in league play. The doubleheader is slated to begin at 11:00 am in Staunton. Join Head Coach Charlie Dobbins and his team in a non-conference doubleheader Monday, April 12, versus Shaw. The Pacers will celebrate senior Ashley Stansbury. See you on the sidelines!
