Peace Struggles to Find Rhythm
Rocky Mount, NC--Peace College struggled to find their rhythm tonight against the Bishops of NC Wesleyan (76-56). Shooting only 33% on the game to te Bishops 43% kept the Bishops out of reach most of the night. From the stripe the Pacers were nearly perfect in the 2nd period shooting 11-12 and finishing with 83% for the game. First-year Kayla Mitchell (Walnut Cove, NC/West Stokes) shot 4-4 in the final 6 minutes of the game. Mitchell finished with 6 points. Unfortunately, Peace only shot 18 free throws compared to NC Wesleyan's 35.
Junior guard LeAnne Horne (Monroe, NC/Parkwood) led for Peace with 13 points for the game. Horne had 2 assists and 4 rebounds in the disappointing loss. Sophomore Brenna Mickey (Winston-Salem, NC/North Forsyth) added 8 points and 3 rebounds shooting 2 buckets from behind the arc late in the game. Junior Amanda Cross (Clemmons, NC/Bishop McGuinness) added 7 points and an assist for her team.
The Bishops Essence Chambers led all with 23 points and 6 rebounds. Desiree Driver was next in line with 10 for NC Wesleyan. She added 7 rebounds to the 45 total for the Bishops.
