USA South Womens Basketball Awards Announced
Fayetteville, NC-The USA South conference office announced the women's basketball all-conference awards today. Thirty-one student-athletes were named to all-conference teams.
Senior Pacer Christy Freeman (Lumberton, NC) earned placement on the third team and junior LeAnne Horne (Monroe, NC) was recognized on the honorable mention team. Junior Brenna Mickey (Winston-Salem, NC) was recognized on the conference all-sportsmanship team for her positive impact on the game. Each of these players led Peace to eleven wins during the 2008-2009 season, more than double last year's finish.
Freeman, who reached 1000 career points versus Salem College on January 29, led the Pacers averaging 12.4 points per game this season, including 84.1% from the line on 53-63 shooting. She averaged 3.27 assists per game and currently holds the second all-time assist record at Peace with 338.
Horne led Peace with 57 steals and 105 defensive rebounds on the season. She was the second leading scorer averaging 10.9 points per game and earned 2.73 assists per game. Mickey averaged 3.5 rebounds and 5.2 points per game this season.
