USA South Releases 09-10 Women’s Basketball Poll

Fayetteville, NC-The USA South announced the results of the 2009-2010 women's basketball preseason coaches' poll on Wednesday.  Head Coach Kelly Johnson's squad was picked to finish in a tie for seventh among the ten teams in this his sixth season at Peace.

The Pacers hope to improve on an 11-15 overall record.  The team finished seventh in league standings last year with a 7-11 conference record.  Peace returns eight letterwinners, including two who return this season after a one-year sabbatical.  These leaders will combine with a eight new Pacers to challenge their opponents.  Senior guard and the team's most valuable player LeAnne Horne (5 RBG, 52 steals) will lead Peace, along with teammates Brenna Mickey (3.5 RBG, 5.2 PPG) and Margaret Minton (14 steals, 3.8 PPG). 

Christopher Newport took the lead in this year's poll with seven first-place votes.  The Captains return to this season as the 2009 tournament champs. 

The Pacers open their season November 20-21 as host for the Tenth Annual Jackie Ammons Memorial Tournament.  See you on the sidelines!
