Pacers Fall Short at Mary Baldwin

Staunton, VA -- Down by 14 points at the half and as many as 19 on the game, Peace College (6-9, 2-7 USAS) chipped away at the Mary Baldwin (7-7, 5-5 USAS) lead only to fall short at the buzzer 60-57.  The Pacers cut the lead to just two on two separate occasions in the final minute of regulation but could not turn the corner to take the lead.

Peace bettered their season average at the free throw line by more than 20% in today's loss, scoring 25-29 (86.2%) on the game.  Karissa Herring, leading scorer for Peace, recorded 9-10 from the stripe to contribute15 points on the day.  Senior Brenna Mickey turned in another solid effort with 11 points, six rebounds.  First-year Angel Fuller did what she does best and grabbed a team-high 17 rebounds for Peace.  She added 10 points to record her first career double-double.

The Pacers had no answer for Mary Baldwin's Sabrina Desper who tallied 28 points, 12 rebounds.  Kara Hawkins followed with a game-high 19 rebounds and 11 points.  The Squirrels' Denise Johnson picked up five steals to give her team an edge.

Peace hosts the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan Wednesday, January 27.  Tipoff is slated for 7:00 pm in the Hermann Center.  See you on the sidelines!
